You may be a candidate for this procedure if you have experienced a loss of skin elasticity and muscle tone of the face and neck. A facelift may also be desirable if you have the appearance of jowls and deep creases between the base of the nostrils and corners of the mouth. A facelift may also be helpful if you believe you lack youthful chin and neck contours and feel you have a tired appearance. The results from a facelift are long-lasting, and can “set the clock back” approximately ten years and restore a more refreshed, brighter, and less tired appearance.

A facelift is intended to give a more rested and youthful contour to the face and neck. The types of facelifts range in size from "mini" to "standard" depending on location and extent of skin laxity. Depending on the type of facelift best suited for you, incisions may be placed along the hairline, by the ear, below the chin, or in the crease in front of the ear and earlobe. The surgeon will then lift the skin and trim and remove the excess. The support for the skin will then be tightened and lifted.

Facelifts are done on an outpatient basis under IV sedation. The patient goes home with the head and neck wrapped in dressings, which are usually removed the next day. Initial discomfort is minimal and easily controlled with oral medication. Sutures are removed within 7 to 14 days and bruising and swelling decreases to "socially acceptable" levels in 10 to 20 days. The final results are evident in four to six weeks or sooner, with continued improvement for several months.

It is important to understand that a facelift is a surgical procedure; and as with  all surgical procedures, a facelift carries with it some risk. We encourage all patients to learn as much about the facelift and recovery before undergoing a procedure.

We look forward to helping you learn more during a personalized consultation. Common procedures performed with this treatment include: Eyelid Procedures Nasal Treatments, Fat Transfers, and Cheek Augmentation.

Because the nose is so central and prominent among facial features, the nose has a big impact on appearance. If your nose or a part of your nose is out of proportion with the rest of your features, it may make you self conscious or make you feel that you’re not looking as good as you could.

For our patients, Rhinoplasty (nose surgery, nose enhancement) (surgery to change the shape of the nose) can make the nose larger or smaller, or alter the shape of the bridge, tip, or nostrils. Rhinoplasty (nose surgery, nose enhancement) can also correct deformities and breathing problems caused by injuries or from birth.

Most patients who have undergone Rhinoplasty (nose surgery, nose enhancement) enjoy increased confidence and self-esteem.

Rhinoplasty (nose surgery, nose enhancement) is done on an out-patient basis under IV sedation. Initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication. During your first four to five days of recovery, you will wear a splint on your nose that will insure proper healing. When the splint is removed, your appearance will probably be acceptable for return to work and social activities. The initial swelling and bruising subsides progressively over several days, but the final result (especially the fine features of the tip of the nose) won’t be apparent for about a year and a half.

Like all surgical procedures, Rhinoplasty (nose surgery, nose enhancement) does entail some risk. We encourage all patients to learn as much as possible about Rhinoplasty (nose surgery, nose enhancement) and recovery before undergoing the operation. Our patients should gather as much information as possible and also direct questions to our friendly staff.

We look forward to helping you learn more during a personalized consultation. Common procedures performed with Rhinoplasty (nose surgery, nose enhancement) or nasal  surgery include: Chin Enhancement, Cheek Augmentation, and Otoplasty (ear shaping surgery).

Puffy, baggy, or sagging eyelids are the most common cause of people looking older or more tired than they feel. Dramatic improvements can be made with  eyelid lift surgery (also known as blepharoplasty, cosmetic eyelid surgery or eyelid tuck).

Blepharoplasty is a type of eyelid operation that eliminates excess skin and the excess fatty deposits that collect around the eyelids, creating puffy eyelids. The results give the patient a refreshed, brighter, younger, well-rested and healthier appearance.

Blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper eyelids or on the lower eyelids, or both. The exact procedure is suited to the needs of the individual patient, adjusting the amount of fat and skin to produce the most pleasing and natural appearing results..

Based on a careful preoperative assessment, we strategically place incisions inside or on the eyelid to ensure the most natural looking result, with the most minimal scar as possible. The matured scars are usually very hard to see, except with closest scrutiny.

Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is an out-patient procedure and is performed in our accredited operating room.  We use anesthetist-monitored sedation for your maximal safety and comfort

Following eyelid treatments, side effects such as dry eyes, swelling, bruising, and sensitivity to light may occur, but will fade within ten days. Most patients return to work in five to ten days.

Like all surgical procedures, Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery entails some risk. We encourage all patients to learn as much as possible about eyelid lift and recovery before undergoing a procedure.

We look forward to helping you learn more during a personalized consultation..

Common procedures performed with eyelid procedures include: Brow lift, Fat Transfers, and Cheek Augmentation.

Neck Treatments

Sagging skin, excess fat, or the appearance of neck cords can be corrected with neck lift surgery. The neck lift can restore a clean and well defined neck and jaw line. The results can improve facial shape and balance, give the appearance of weight loss and a healthier and more youthful look.

Each patient must be individually evaluated to determine the best corrective procedure or type of neck lift.  If the skin is lax, or if there is extra skin, a skin tightening procedure with incisions behind the ears is usually best.

If skin tone is adequate, excess fat can be removed with liposuction alone.

Neck cords are due to laxity in the neck muscle (platysma). An anterior neck lift (platysmaplasty) can be performed with a small, well concealed incision under the chin.

The neck lift can be performed in conjunction with a facelift or as a procedure on its own and is commonly performed in our office. For your safety and comfort, an anesthetist carefully monitors you during intravenous sedation. During a neck lift, Dr. Zwiebel will remove excess fat from below the chin or neck using a gentle liposuction procedure. Then, excess skin is carefully trimmed away. The remaining skin will be tightened, offering a more youthful look. Patients will return home with a neck support garment, an elastic dressing that allows the treated area to heal properly, and wear it for a week to maintain the neck’s new position. Post-operative bruising will take one to two weeks to resolve. Like all surgical procedures, a neck lift entails some risk. We encourage all patients to learn as much about the neck lift and recovery before undergoing a procedure.  We look forward to helping you learn more during a personalized consultation.

Common procedures performed with Neck Lift include: Facelift,  Eyelid Procedures, Chin Enhancement, Fat Transfers, and Brow Lift.

Brow Treatments

The great power of the brow lift is its ability to brighten the facial features WITHOUT creating an obvious surgical appearance.

Ideal candidates for a brow lift often don’t realize they would benefit from this procedure. Forehead lines can often be improved with BOTOX, but may also signal an over-activity of the forehead muscles due to drooping of the brow.

The droopy or heavy brow can steal from the beauty of the eye by concealing the upper eyelid or by creating a heavy or hooded effect over the eye. This also contributes to a tired appearance. The brow lift may be done by itself or in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures to create a brighter, more rested, attractive and youthful appearance to the face and eyes.

An individualized consultation and evaluation is the only way to determine if you are a candidate for a brow lift.

We perform brow lifts in our accredited office operating suite, using anesthetist-monitored intravenous sedation for your maximal safety and comfort.  During the procedure, Dr. Zwiebel makes small incisions behind the hairline to tighten the underlying muscle and skin.. Post-operative discomfort is minimal and easily controlled by oral medication.

Like all surgical procedures, a brow lift entails some risk. We encourage all patients to learn as much about the brow lift and recovery before undergoing a procedure.

We look forward to helping you learn more during a personalized consultation. Common procedures performed with Brow Lifts include: Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty), Face Lift, Fat Transfers, and Cheek Augmentation.

Cheek and chin augmentation can help bring definition and balance to your face.  Not only do they bring harmony to the face and improve contour, they can significantly contribute to facial rejuvenation by restoring volume loss due to aging changes.

Cheek augmentation is most often performed with injectable fillers , such as fat grafting, Restylane, or Juvederm™.  These procedures can be done in the office with local anesthetic, or with other procedures (such as facelift) in the operating room with sedation.

Chin implants are placed through inconspicuous incisions under the chin. Most patients experience no visible scarring and bruising and swelling subsides one to two weeks post-operatively. The procedures are performed under IV sedation and involve only minor discomfort, which is easily controlled by oral medications. Like all surgical procedures, Cheek and Chin Enhancements entail  some risk. We encourage all patients to learn as much about the procedures and recovery before undergoing a procedure.

We look forward to helping you learn more during a personalized consultation.

Common procedures performed with Cheek Augmentation and Chin Enhancement include: Facelift, Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty) and Rhinoplasty (nose surgery, nose enhancement) (cosmetic nasal surgery)

Fat Transfers

An exciting option in contouring the face and body uses your own fat, taken from a part of the body with excess fat (the “donor site”).

Products such as Restylane and Juvederm are excellent means to fill and reduce the visibility of facial wrinkles and folds.. Fat injections can be used to fill folds and enhance contours such as the lips, cheeks, and pre-jowl folds. Aging changes in the face can include loss of volume due to thinning of the skin and loss of fat in certain areas, like the cheeks, cheekbones and lips. Using your own fat to replace lost facial volume can be a very natural and excellent alternative to other facial fillers (Collagen, Restylane, Perlane, Artefill, and Juvederm.

Fat Injections are performed as an out-patient procedure with either local anesthetic or with other procedures, such as facelift, using sedation.  After injecting numbing medication, Dr. Zwiebel removes fat from the “donor site,” usually the abdomen, thigh (thigh lift)s or buttocks (buttock lift)s. Using a needle and a syringe, Dr. Zwiebel extracts the fat from the donor site and then reinserts it into the treatment area.

Recovery time after Fat Injection is usually very quick. Most of our patients will experience minor bruising and swelling for several days following the procedure..

Fat Injections seem to work best for filling areas like the cheeks at the time of facelift. We have had best results using other injectable fillers like Restylane and Juvederm for fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the lips and eyelids.

Fat Injections are very useful for filling body contour irregularities, such as depressions from injury or previous surgery. Fat Injections can also be very helpful in refining results after breast augmentation, to smoothen wrinkles and conceal palpable implant edges or folds, if they occur.

The best way to determine if you are a good candidate for fat grafting is through individual evaluation. Like all surgical procedures, Fat Injections entail some risks. We encourage all patients to learn as much about the procedures and recovery before undergoing a procedure.

We look forward to helping you learn more during a personalized consultation.

BOTOX®, Restylane and Juvederm

Now there are techniques to improve crow's feet, brow creases, unsightly lip lines, and other wrinkles. BOTOX and Restylane or Juvederm   can be applied to smooth wrinkles and fine lines.

BOTOX is a purified chemical that is injected into the skin to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. BOTOX relaxes the subdermal muscles that cause wrinkles, creating a smoother, more refreshed and youthful look. BOTOX is used for the glabella (the furrow area between your eyebrows), the brow, and the crow’s feet to improve a tired, stern or angry appearance. The treatment takes only 15 minutes, patients experience no downtime, and effects last approximately three months.

Having a knowledgeable, experienced and skillful person such as Dr. Zwiebel perform the BOTOX injections is important for safe and optimal results, preserving a natural appearance with good muscle balance.

Restylane and Juvederm  are also used to treat wrinkles and fine lines, but also serve well for lip enhancement. Unlike BOTOX, which relaxes the muscle to reduce the wrinkle, Restylane and Juvederm  are “fillers,” meaning they are injected to plump and fill a wrinkle or fold, making it even with surrounding skin. Restylane and Juvederm  are very effective for treating nasal labial folds (the smile lines that run from the nostrils to the corner of the mouth), the frown lines at the corner of the mouth, and the pre-jowl folds. For lip enhancement, Restylane or Juvederm   is injected along the lip line. There are many benefits to Restylane and Juvederm  , which do not require an allergy test.

In our practice, we find that Restylane generally will last six months and is best for corrections around the eyes, like the tear trough, the hollow between the lower eyelid and the cheek.

Juvederm  has been shown to last nine months or longer in many of our patients, and seems best for use in the face in areas other than the eyelid region.

BOTOX , Restylane , and Juvederm  are approved for cosmetic use by the FDA. The treatments are very safe and require little or no downtime.

Chemical Skin Treatments

Skin Treatments are an important aspect of normal health care and beauty enhancement.  Our skin is our protection against environmental factors: sun damage and ultra-violet exposure; wind; heat; cold; debris, chemicals and bacteria in the air and that with which we come in contact; as well as natural aging changes.

Optimal skin health and beauty requires regular maintenance. Much like caring for your teeth, simple procedures to care for your skin take very little time, but when performed on a regular and routine basis produce dramatic results

Wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and other imperfections can all cause patients to look older or even unhealthy. Aging changes include a slowing down of skin cell replacement and also result in accumulation of a thicker dead cell layer on the skin’s surface. These changes leave the skin with a duller, less healthy appearance. Fortunately, dramatic results can be achieved through skin treatments that stimulate the skin cells and circulation, restoring a bright, glowing and pinker, healthier appearance to the skin.. At our office, Doctor Zwiebel and his Skin Care Specialists can provide recommendations for optimizing home care and with specialized skin treatment procedures.

Doctor Zwiebel and his Skin Care Specialists can provide a full spectrum of chemical peels and other treatments to augment or compliment home care to remove skin imperfections and reveal a younger, clearer complexion.

Skin treatments are commonly performed in conjunction with other rejuvenation procedures such as Facelift, Tissue Augmentation, Blepharoplasty/ Eyelid Procedures, Rhinoplasty (nose surgery, nose enhancement) (Cosmetic Nasal Surgery) and Brow Lifts.

We encourage all patients to learn as much about skin care, skin resurfacing, and chemical peels before undergoing a procedure.  We look forward to helping you learn more during a personalized consultation.
