IV Sedation
You will receive only the highest quality treatment at our office. Our doctor performs procedures with your safety as his primary concern. In keeping with our commitment to maximum patient safety and comfort, we perform the majority of our surgical procedures under IV sedation. This type of anesthesia provides complete comfort to our patients while minimizing common side effects experienced with general anesthesia. IV sedation, performed with a certified anesthesiologist, maximizes comfort and allows for a quicker recovery.
Male Operative Procedures
At our practice, our cosmetic surgeon and our staff are dedicated to providing quality care to our patients with empathy and respect. And we believe that all patients have the right to look their best, regardless of gender.
It is not uncommon for men to receive treatments at our facility, and men should not feel uncomfortable contacting our office. Common procedures men receive are eyelid operations, nasal treatments, liposuction, and gynecomastia, although many other procedures are available to our male patients. Many of our male patients are motivated to maintain a fresher appearance due to increasingly competitive professional environments. Others seek treatments for correction of genetically predisposed conditions, which may deeply impact not only self-perception, but also the way in which a man projects himself to others. Whether you are seeking to improve your looks, reverse the signs of aging, or simply correct an existing aesthetic condition, the doctor and his medical staff can help you to achieve your goals!
Please contact our office for more information about male procedures.
Treatments for Darker Skin Types
Our doctor understands that every individual’s idea of beauty is different. It is his belief that the patient, regardless of race, should have a natural and unique appearance after his or her cosmetic operation. That is why our empathetic staff takes the time to listen to the desires and goals of every individual patient to ensure that the results of the operation meet his or her specific goals.
Further, before undergoing treatment, many African Americans are concerned about physical issues unique to their race. The doctor and his staff offer procedures to African American patients that are sensitive to racial identity, including techniques designed to produce minimal scarring. We listen carefully to ensure that the procedure we provide will produce the maximum aesthetic results for each individual patient.
Please contact our office for more information about African American treatments.
Psychology of an Operation
Before undergoing an operation, it is important for each potential patient to consider various psychological issues. Our plastic surgeon asks that patients consider the following issues before making a final decision about the operation:
Patient Education
The doctor and his medical staff encourage patients to gather as much information as possible about the operation they are considering before making a decision. We ask that you research the procedures, look at before-and-after photos, and ask any and all questions you may have about the operation. This education will help you to feel more comfortable and confident before undergoing your procedure. Additionally, once you make the decision to undergo the procedure, it is extremely important that you feel comfortable enough to ask questions of your plastic surgeon.
Reasons for Undergoing an Operation
There are healthy and unhealthy reasons for considering an operation, and it is important for patients to closely examine why they are considering cosmetic enhancement. If a spouse or partner is belittling your appearance, pressuring, or forcing you to undergo treatment, if you think an operation will solve all your problems, you have recently suffered a major loss, or if you are considering an operation as a result of physical or emotional abuse, these procedures may not be a healthy option. However, if you are seeking to correct one or a few physical problems, and have reasonable expectations for your life following the procedure, cosmetic enhancement can help to maximize your appearance and self-image!
Depression and Mood Swings
Some patients experience a brief period of “let-down” or depression after the procedure. Some may subconsciously have expected to feel and look better instantly, even though they understand that this will not be the case. Patients commonly question their decision to have an operation during the first few days after the procedure. As the healing occurs, these thoughts usually disappear quickly. If you feel depressed, understanding that this is a natural phase of the healing process may help you to cope with this emotional state. The doctor and the entire staff are available during this time for emotional support and positive reinforcement.
Recovery Process
Cosmetic procedure are just that - a procedure. Simply because the procedure is elective does not necessarily mean that it is any less critical than non-elective operations. It is extremely important for patients to understand that time must be set aside to allow the body to heal. There probably will be some discomfort and it will be necessary for the patient to take proper time off from work, school, or other strenuous activities.

Our Process for Your Experience
The decision to have cosmetic treatments is a very personal choice. You will ultimately base your decision on your own set of priorities and goals. As an individual, your questions and needs are particular to your situation. Understanding this, we have created a consultation and treatment process that adapts to your needs, creating an experience specifically tailored to you.
Inquiry:
With your first contact with our office, we start getting to know you by connecting you with our Patient Coordinator. We’ll discuss the procedures you are considering, the price ranges, and the recovery period involved. The Patient Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to guide you throughout your experience with our office - from your first call and throughout your recovery.
Consultation:
The consultation, which lasts approximately 90 minutes, supplies you with additional information about the procedure and, just as importantly, allows us to get to know one another. The doctor will examine you, learn about your concerns and goals, discuss your particular case, and answer any questions. The Patient Coordinator will then explain the financial and scheduling options. The consultation will provide you with the information you need to make a well-informed decision.
Surgery:
When you have made your decision, our Patient Coordinator will assist you by scheduling the operation, describing the process, and providing you with an instruction manual prepared specifically for you. You will meet with us again two weeks before the operation to review the procedure and your instructions. Both the doctor and our staff will be in contact with you throughout your pre-operative time, answering questions and providing support.
Post-Operative Care:
We carefully monitor our post-operative patients. We will see you the day after your operation, several times in the next six weeks, at six months, and then one year following your operation. We will keep in contact with you, maintaining our relationship with you throughout your recovery.
