Dr. Zwiebel begins the breast reduction procedure with an incision, which is made around the areola (the dark circle of skin surrounding the nipple) and below the natural curve of the breast. Next, excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin are removed, and the remaining skin is tightened around the newly contoured breast.

In Denver, breast reduction can be a medically necessary procedure, and, therefore, may be covered by your medical insurance carrier. If you would like to submit your operation costs through your insurance plan, you will need to speak to your insurance company and ask what your out-of-network benefits are for breast reduction. Also, it is important to note that many policies do not cover breast reduction as a covered benefit.
